BRENTON POINT STATE PARK

See amazing, panoramic views where Narragansett Bay meets the ocean at this state park in Newport, Rhode Island.

You'll find the park along the southern-most point of Ocean Drive. Walk along the perimeter of the field and its trails to count kites stuck in trees (our record is 52). Beyond the field you will encounter the ruins of a stable and a stone tower that will give you a view above the trees.

The land was once home to one of Newport's grandest estates, The Bells, from the late 1800s through the 1960s. Left abandoned, the mansion was torn down in 1963. In the mid-seventies, the state took it over and the land was opened to the public.
